Profile Of A Riding Lawn Mower Consumer
The riding lawn mower is a different animal than the old fashioned walk behind push mower. The riding lawn mower consumer is going to be someone who has a great deal of lawn to cut of course, but he has other uses for the lawn mower that he has big plans for.
Perhaps he plans on using the Cub Cadet or Snapper to pull a trailer behind it full of leaves to be toted off or a zero turn model. Or maybe he wants to use that John Deere, Honda or Husqvarna for mulching the small to medium sized vegetable or flower garden.
He's going to read the reviews and consumer reports to find out what he needs to look for so he doesn't feel like a fool when he's talking with the salesman. He wants to appear as knowledgeable as the salesman. He wants the salesman to really just confirm his own decision.
The riding lawn mower consumer is going to consider what size deck he needs and what size blades he'll actually use when he gets it home. He needs to consider horse power too, but not at the expense of wasting it. Why buy the power needed for a 3-5 acre farm when you have a .75 acre plot? The consumer is going to consider what attachments he needs and buy based on need not on status. While he might love the idea of a garden plow, he's going to buy the leaf bagger instead since he doesn't have much of a green thumb. On the other hand, he knows if he does decide to really get into gardening, he'll need a garden tractor instead of a lawn mower to do the really big stuff. The best riding lawn mower is going to be the one he finds a good deal on and does everything he needs it to do. He's going to find the best buy during the off season, around Christmas time. He's going to shop around and he's going to consider the models from the year before to get the most bang for his buck. He's going to be proud of the model he gets and regardless of the time of year, he's going to try it out as soon as he gets it home.
